A FILM IS NEVER REALLY GOOD UNLESS THE CAMERA IS AN EYE IN THE HEAD OF A POET!
Bernard Salzman started his career as a documentary Director / Producer/Cinematographer, collaborating on over 100 projects, world wide. Some of his European credits include: The epic “Massada” (BBC), the TV series “Christianity “ for RAI, Italian TV, the political docu-drama “Echoes” for Canal Plus, France, the TV dramas “Iris’ La Dalia” “Stranger In Town” and “Dualism” as well as thirty five episodes of the television series “Artists”. One of the episodes received the Special Critics Award at the Stockholm Film Festival.
Bernard Salzman’s outstanding work in Commercials is reflected in spots for Calvin Klein, Nike, Pepsi, Kodak, BMW, Mercedes, Sony Play Station, Suzuki, Heineken, Rocawear, Fosters Beer, Trojan, Rochas Perfume, M&M’s, Milk, Cascade, Allstate, The California State Lottery, Pampers and Excedrin, to name just a few.
Collaborating on more than sixty features and television movies, for MGM, Paramount, Disney, Columbia, CBS, ABC, PBS, FOX, SHOWTIME and HBO, his work was recognized with an Emmy nomination for the television drama “ My Past Is My Own” starring Whoopi Goldberg, as well as Best Cinematography Awards for the pictures “A Different Shadow” and “Autistic”. Bernard Produced and Shot the feature film “Divorce”, starring Talia Shire, Elias Koteas, Christopher McDonald and Wendy Malik, and Directed, Produced and Shot the award winning feature “ The Unknown Cyclist” starring Lea Thompson, Lainie Kazan, Danny Nucci, and Vincent Spano, followed by “The Path”, starring Shaya LaBeouf, Dee Wallace Stone, Vincent Spano and Allan Rich, which he Wrote, Produced, Directed and Shot. He also directed the musical documentary “Edith Piaf – Her Story Her Songs”.
He has recently completed the feature length documentary “Vegas Stripped”, which he Developed, Produced, Directed, Shot and Edited and just completed production on the feature film “The Square Root Of 2”, which he has produced, directed, shot and edited. Bernard has developed, produced and directed several reality TV shows, including: “Man vs Vegas”, “Raising The Bar” and “The Prodigy” among others.
Bernard Salzman is currently developing and writing the epic historic piece “Love, Blood and Tears”, about the Lincoln Brigades in the Spanish Civil War, and in production with “Angelo Dundee – American Icon”, a feature length documentary about the life of legendary boxing trainer Angelo Dundee and in production with the reality TV show “At The Pawn Shop.” Articles about Bernard Salzman’s work were published in American Cinematographer
